Solar Panels in the Way of Your Roof Work? We Can Help.
Already have solar? Foam Roof Solutions can help coordinate removal of your existing panels when needed, complete the roof repair, restoration, recoat or new foam roof, and help get the existing system back in place afterward.
FRS does not sell new solar systems. Our focus is your roof.

Roofing First. Solar Coordinated.
A straightforward solution for properties that already have solar.
- Remove existing solar when roof access is needed
- Repair, restore, recoat or install the foam roof
- Inspect penetrations and previously covered roof areas
- Coordinate return of the existing solar system
Existing Solar + Roofing
Keep the solar you already have. Fix the roof underneath it.
Solar panels should not stop your roof from receiving the work it actually needs. The goal is to provide proper access to the roofing system while preserving your existing solar equipment when practical.
Remove Existing Solar
When access to the roof beneath an existing array is necessary, the panels and related equipment can be temporarily removed so the roofing work can be completed correctly.
Restore or Replace the Roof
FRS evaluates what the roof actually needs — targeted repair, restoration, recoating or a new foam roofing system.
Reinstall the Existing System
Once the roofing work is complete, return of the existing solar equipment can be coordinated when the system remains suitable for reuse.
Roofing Is the Focus
You already bought solar. We are here to solve the roofing problem.
Foam Roof Solutions no longer sells new solar systems.
You will not find tax-credit pitches, solar financing packages, battery sales or pressure to replace a functioning solar system.
If the solar system you already own needs to come off so your roof can be repaired, restored, recoated or replaced correctly, we can help coordinate that work as part of the roofing project.
If you independently decide to replace or expand your solar system, you can work with the solar provider of your choice while FRS focuses on the roofing scope.
Why Roof Access Matters
The roof underneath the solar panels still needs attention.
Solar arrays can cover a substantial portion of a roof. When those areas need inspection, repair or recoating, simply working around the panels can leave important parts of the roofing system inaccessible.
Covered roof areas may need cleaning, inspection, repairs and renewed protective acrylic coating.
Existing SPF can often be repaired and renewed rather than completely removed.
Mounting points and penetrations need to remain properly integrated into the waterproof roofing system.
When more extensive work is necessary, removing the solar provides access to the complete roof surface.
Projects affecting framing, penetrations or rooftop equipment may require temporary solar removal before final roofing work.
The Process
From roof evaluation to solar reinstallation.
Every property is different, but the goal is simple: sequence the work correctly so the roof gets the access and attention it needs.
Evaluate the Roof
Determine whether the roof needs targeted repair, restoration, recoating or a new foam roofing system.
Review the Solar Layout
Identify which portions of the array interfere with the roofing work and what access will be required.
Remove Solar as Needed
Temporarily remove the existing panels and related components necessary to provide proper roof access.
Complete the Roofing Work
Repair, restore, recoat or install the foam roofing system, including roof areas previously covered by solar.
Prepare the Finished Roof
Address attachment locations and penetrations so they integrate properly with the finished roofing system.
Return Existing Solar
When appropriate, coordinate reinstallation and any required solar-specific reconnection work after the roof is ready.
Restore When Practical
Having solar does not automatically mean you need a new roof.
One of the major advantages of spray polyurethane foam roofing is that a properly installed system can often be renewed rather than repeatedly torn off and replaced.
If the existing SPF remains in good condition, FRS may be able to repair damaged areas and renew the protective acrylic coating after obtaining the access needed around or beneath the solar array.
The right answer depends on the condition of the roof — not on selling the most expensive option.
What We Look At
Before recommending replacement, we evaluate:
- Condition of the existing foam roofing system
- Condition of the protective coating
- Leaks, moisture or damaged foam
- Drainage and ponding-water concerns
- Existing solar penetrations and mounting areas
- Roof areas hidden beneath the solar array
- Whether restoration or recoating can extend roof life

Frequently Asked Questions
Roof work when you already have solar.
Does Foam Roof Solutions sell new solar systems?
No. FRS no longer sells new solar systems. This service is designed for property owners who already have solar and need roofing work completed beneath or around the existing equipment.
Can my existing solar panels be removed and reinstalled after my roof is completed?
Often, yes. Existing equipment that remains appropriate for reuse can frequently be temporarily removed for roof access and reinstalled afterward. The age, condition and configuration of the system should be reviewed for each project.
Do solar panels always have to be removed to recoat a foam roof?
Not necessarily. It depends on the array layout, the condition of the roof and the scope of work. FRS can evaluate which portions of the roof actually need access before recommending removal.
Can you recoat the roof underneath my solar panels?
Yes, when those areas require restoration and can be properly accessed. Panels covering areas that need preparation, repair or recoating generally need to be temporarily removed first.
Can solar panels be installed on a foam roof?
Yes. Solar and spray polyurethane foam roofing can work well together when attachment locations and roof penetrations are properly planned and waterproofed.
What if my original solar installer is no longer in business?
That does not automatically prevent the existing system from being removed and reinstalled. Start by sharing the equipment and installation information you have so the appropriate contractors can review the project.
What if I want to replace my existing solar system with a new one?
FRS does not sell new solar systems. You can select the solar provider you want to use while FRS remains focused on completing and protecting the roofing system.
Should I evaluate my roof before changing my solar system?
If your roof may need restoration, recoating or replacement in the foreseeable future, it is smart to evaluate the roof first. That can prevent installing or modifying solar equipment over areas that soon need roofing work.
